Originating from the golden kingdom of Elysion, the Golden Crystal derives all of its great powers from the lovely dreams of the humans on Earth. She has a unique relationship with Beryl, in that Beryl is lower than her in command, although she needs to use Beryl to carry out her orders, rather than giving orders directly.The Golden Crystal is the possession of Mamoru Chiba / Tuxedo Mask / Prince Endymion & it's one of the Sailor Crystals.Interestingly, unlike other main antagonists, Queen Metalia does not seem to exhibit many powers of her own aside from the obvious ability to destroy Earth, the only other power she was seen was giving Mamoru (and Beryl) her dark energy to serve them.In the Viz Media English dub, she is properly called "Queen Metalia". In the DiC English dub, she was called The Negaforce and in that dub, she had no gender.In the manga, she looked like a humanoid shadowy figure, but in the anime, she looked like a black cloud.
Most of the other ones kill the true main antagonist, except the case of Pharaoh 90 and Professor Tomoe, as Tomoe survives (though the one possessing him is killed).
Queen Metalia is the only "greater antagonist" destroyed at the same time as the main antagonist (as they were combined together at the time). Queen Beryl after Queen Metalia merges with her into Super Beryl. This attack completely obliterated both of them but also cost Princess Serenity her life. They fought Princess Serenity in the Arctic, but with the power of her friends' spirits, Princess Serenity used the Silver Crystal to unleash its ultimate attack, Moon Prism Power. In the season finale, Beryl begged Metalia for power, who agreed and possessed Beryl, turning them into a creature called Super Beryl. Later, it was revealed to the Sailor Senshi that once the sunspots cover the sun's surface once again, Metalia's revival would be complete they'd also begun to align in the same patterns as when the Moon Kingdom was destroyed, implying the same thing would happen to the Earth. Later, after Princess Serenity re-awakened, Tuxedo Mask was brought to her she recognized him as the reincarnation of Prince Endymion and flooded him with dark energy, brainwashing him into becoming evil. After doing so, Metalia told Beryl to find the Rainbow Crystals and revive the Seven Great Youma to locate the Silver Crystal, which she believed necessary to complete her awakening. In the present day, Queen Beryl and the Dark Kingdom somehow reawakened, sans Metalia Beryl ordered Jadeite and Nephrite to collect energy to re-awaken her, which eventually succeeded. Queen Serenity used the Moon Stick with the Silver Crystal to seal away the Dark Kingdom (including Metalia) and reincarnate all of the Sailor Senshi. Queen Serenity as well as the moon cats witnessed this as well as the birth of the Dark Kingdom by Beryl. She also used her power to assist in the assault, which led to the Moon Kingdom being destroyed the Inner Senshi (as well as Princess Serenity and Prince Endymion) all suffered casualties in this fight.
